BJMA Affiliated Club: Yonder Dojos, Bordertown S.A.
My martial arts journey began in 1979 right here in Bordertown, country South Australia, under Sensei Chris Morsom who travelled over from Horsham VICTORIA.
We were all part of the Amenta family and Santo played a huge part in my martial art life.
I will always remember my black grading in the Melbourne Town Hall under one of our greats, Billy Manne. There were 100 of us and red tops every where sitting those down who weren’t up to scratch. Those were the days huh…
Training with the Chief has always been pretty special as has training with other great martial artists of that era, such as Billy Manne, Santo Amenta, Steve Nedelkos, Raffaelle Lanciana and Charlie Kambouris(†).
Recently, I was awarded my 9th Degree in Tara Miliata and 9th Degree in Zen do Kai and currently I am a 3rd Degree in BJMA Kickboxing (Muay Thai)
In 2016 I became a Thai Boxing promoter and have run 4 high class professional thai boxing shows attracting top class fighters from all over Australia, this show is known as The State of a Warrior.
My main role outside maintaining my Bordertown Club is assisting our State Representative John Leondaris as his left damio maintaining a high standard with in the BJMA Systems.
Attributes a Martial Artist should attain to are
- Focus and self discipline……will take you to your future
- Accolades come only when you least expect them
- Its not the way you do it, it’s how you do it and how you apply
My advise is:-
Train hard and maintain a high level of self discipline and you will achieve. Above all have fun.
