BJMA Affiliated Club: Synergy Training Centre, Albury NSW

My journey in BJMA began back in 1982 with the attainment of my first belt, “The first step in a journey of a thousand miles,” had begun. My Instructors at the time were Ian Ryan and Peter Rowe, both whom went on to become mentors and friends. Both are still highly regarded in my life.

Attaining my Black Belt saw the true beginning of my learning as a Martial Artist, with many mental and physical challenges undertaken and achieved. I now hold Full 9th Degree in both BJMA Tara Miliata and Zen Do Kai,  as well as a 6th Degree in BJMA Kickboxing (Muay Thai). This journey has been very rewarding and gratifying.

One of my greatest achievements has been the founding and establishment of The Synergy Training Centre in Macauley St, Albury, NSW. Our Centre is now home to many forms of Martial Arts and we are enjoying a positive and empowering culture, with a great community vibe.

Achieving and attaining my 2nd Degree in Brazilian Jui Jitsu under the Will/Machado System will go down as one of my toughest challenges in my Martial Arts Journey.

In my later years of Martial Arts training the spiritual component has come into my existence, and I sit more deeply within myself, absorbing the energy of my Martial Arts and the many lessons and insights I have gained. I now draw strength and wisdom from my training that has gone on to be applied to all aspects of my life.

I have found that in order to be a successful Martial Artist one must –

  • Develop patience, and in doing so build resilience
  • Let go of your ego in order to fully embrace and embody the Martial Arts Journey
  • Respect your achievements by helping and supporting others to achieve theirs
