Dave Brown began his Martial Arts journey in 1965 (Co-incidently in the same year as Robert V Jones & BJMA) and has become an accomplished artist in every sense of the word.

He is in high demand for seminars all over Australia & New Zealand to pass on his mastery of the martial arts.

David Brown has a long association with Bob Jones Martial Arts and has trained with the most reputable of our organisation including Bob Jones, Richard Norton, Billy Manne, Rod Stroud, Tommy Spiller to name but a few.
“When David Brown appeared on our scene, he wanted to devise a system (which we have since named ‘lesson ONE’, with a million variations) catering especially for the level of these Zen Do Kai Black-belts who all had up to 35 years experience (mostly graded between 4th and 8th Degree).

He always commented he was not teaching us; he was training with us while he was actually teaching himself. Myself and all of these higher ranks that have continued training together with David Brown since January 2000 have all been ‘major’ influences into this concept I’ve called “EPC” – “Enter, Pass & Control”

Our founder, Bob Jones has acknowledged David with the accolade of Tara Miliata 10th Degree (Red Belt) and the title of Professor and/or Soke (i.e. Soke is an ancient Celtic/Gaelic word describing someone of rank having the responsibility to administer Justice for anyone committing a wrongdoing within a particular Tribe, group or organisation). 

The BJMA – TARA MILIATA Red belt & accompanying certification were presented to David by three of his most senior students Tommy Spiller (8th Degree), Joe De Francesco (8th Degree) and  George Pavlicek (5th Degree) and witnessed by David’s group of students on Thursday 16th July 2015.

Now, including David Brown between Australia and Europe BJMA – TARA MILIATA has four 10th Degrees and three 9th Degrees and several 8th Degrees.
Beyond his martial arts, David is also a watchmaker and is now a luthier & shakuhachi flute maker of international acclaim.

David is famed for his wonderful wooden flutes that have received the highest praise throughout Japan. His flutes are famous for their reliability, precision, ruggedness and absolute beauty and he constructs each one from unique Australian hard-woods.
