BATON & HANDCUFF TRAINING
A Baton not only affords a Security officer with a greater amount of protection than totally relying on empty hand control, but also, can often be considered an alternative to a firearm. Handcuffs can allow you to control a subject safely until the Police arrive. Our basic course is a 1-day program, which utilizes the PPCT (Pressure Point Control Tactics) Management System Program.
PPCT is considered to be a world leader in use of, force training. They were the first defensive tactics-training agency to look at legal, tactical and the medical, implications of techniques. PPCT also believes in the less is best principle so instead of having lots of techniques, the system techniques are kept to a minimum so you can not only remember how to perform them but it is easy to practice.
The course is broken into two main area’s – theory and practical.
The first part of the day is the theory component. Here we will look at the law in relation to the carriage and use of baton and handcuff’s as well as survival stress research but most importantly when you can and cannot use a baton and / or your handcuffs.
The second part of the day is the practical component. Here we will look at the different types of handcuffs and batons and their use. The different strikes used to subdue a subject or to defend yourself or another person, without causing undue harm. The technique of Speed cuffing will also be introduced.
